  • Overview: TRON Lightcycle / Run is a thrill ride in the dark, with light and screen effects throughout. It includes sharp turns, big drops and high speeds; in fact, TRON Lightcycle / Run is one of the fastest coasters at any Disney park in the world!
  • How to experience: There are two ways to experience TRON Lightcycle / Run. Guests can enter a virtual queue or purchase individual Lightning Lane entry through the My Disney Experience app on the day of their park visit. A standby queue will not be available.

How Disney movies inspired TRON Lightcycle / Run

When Walt Disney Pictures released TRON in 1982, it ushered in an era of computer-generated visual effects with its innovative combination of live action and computer animation. In 2010, TRON: Legacy brought even more cutting-edge special effects to the big screen to expand on the vast universe of the Grid. The unique light displays and electronic soundscapes of TRON’S digital universe come to dazzling life in TRON Lightcycle / Run, as you enter one of the TRON saga’s iconic Lightcycle races in a competition against Programs that aim to win—and delete you in the process!

How the score was created for TRON Lightcycle / Run

The music for the TRON universe went to the next level with a best-selling soundtrack by Daft Punk for TRON: Legacy. Now, acclaimed composer Joseph Trapanese has brought his pulse-pounding combo of orchestral and electronic music to an entirely original score for TRON Lightcycle / Run. Every twist, turn and drop immerses you in a dramatic soundscape that makes you feel like you’re riding through a movie! The music has become so popular, it’s even available to stream on Spotify.

What you’ll experience on TRON Lightcycle / Run

From the moment you approach the ultra-modern design of TRON Lightcycle / Run, you enter a sci-fi story where you’re the hero. Every Guest who rides is a “User” who joins Team Blue in the Lightcycle races. The goal is to collect Energy Gates and defeat the Programs on Team Orange. But you aren’t just playing a game at Flynn’s Arcade, of course: you enter the Grid, the computer universe, by getting digitized. Once you’ve successfully entered the Grid, you can store your belongings in lockers before loading onto your Lightcycle. Users get strapped in leaning forward and holding onto the handlebars to give you the full, exhilarating feeling of riding a cycle at top speed! Ride the Lightcycle into the Upload Conduit, where you go up, up, up into “the Ring”… and then, let the games begin! You’ve got to make some turns and drops to avoid the villainous Team Orange, but If you can defeat them, you’ll be a hero to the whole Grid.

How to join the virtual queue

Guests at Walt Disney World® Resort can download the My Disney Experience app for a wide range of helpful, convenient uses around the Parks and Resorts. To ride TRON Lightcycle / Run, Guests will need to use the My Disney Experience app to enter a virtual queue. A standby queue will not be available. Each Guest can request to enter this virtual queue on the app, no more than once per day during regular park hours. Boarding groups for a virtual queue are limited, subject to availability and not guaranteed. Not all boarding groups may be called to return, based on availability for this highly popular experience. Late arrivals may not be accommodated.

There are two daily opportunities to request to join the virtual queue for TRON Lightcycle / Run: 7:00 a.m. (Guests do not need to be in Magic Kingdom® Park to join the virtual queue at this time) and 1:00 p.m. (Guests must be in Magic Kingdom® Park to join the virtual queue at this time). Before you visit a park, join a virtual queue or purchase individual Lightning Lane entry, you must have valid admission and may need a theme park reservation depending on type of admission and the date of your visit. An opportunity to request to join the virtual queue will be available at 6:00 p.m. on select dates during extended evening theme park hours—a benefit for registered Guests staying at a Disney Deluxe Resort, Disney Deluxe Villa Resort or other select hotels. Cardmembers, get all the benefits of extended evening theme park hours by booking your Disney vacation with special vacation financing!2

How to purchase Lightning Lane entry

Guests may also purchase individual Lightning Lane entry for this attraction, as well as other popular attractions, through the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit. Guests of a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels may make their purchase at 7:00 AM on the day of their park visit. This includes Guests of Walt Disney World Swan Hotel, Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel and Shades of Green Resort. All other Guests may make their purchase when the park opens. Lightning Lane entry purchases are limited in availability, are subject to change or closure, may vary by date, and are not guaranteed. Keep in mind, you can redeem Disney Rewards Dollars toward Lightning Lane entry.1 Now that‘s an expert move worthy of Team Blue!

What to expect as you exit the Grid

Once you declare victory for Team Blue, you’re greeted by a bold new race team – Team Green – in the post-show space presented by Enterprise. Rest up after your adventure or take photos with the state-of-the-art green Lightcycle to commemorate your successful adventure across the Grid!

What to see and do near TRON Lightcycle / Run

  • Tomorrowland® Launch Depot: Launch into some futuristic shopping at the biggest shopping destination in the land and find TRON-inspired merchandise. You can use the convenient features of merchandise mobile checkout while shopping! When you shop with your Disney® Visa® Credit Card, you can save 10% on select merchandise purchases.45
  • TRON Identity Program: You were a hero in the Grid, and every hero deserves their very own action figure! During this unique experience, you will enter a Grid Digitization Portal that will allow you to customize your figure. First, Image Capture will scan your facial features. Then, you’ll select your helmet, body configuration and team color. Finally, you’ll visit Command Input, where you’ll record six lines of dialogue in your own voice. Be sure to allow 20 minutes to make your selections and 60 minutes for your finished Program action figure to be ready.
  • Joffrey’s Revive Kiosk: Head to this kiosk to refuel with coffee and other popular beverages. To keep your TRON team spirit going, try the Team Blue Lemonade, featuring blue raspberry syrup and Minute Maid® Lemonade. It’s only available at this kiosk!
