Summer Camping at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground

Warm summer months always inspire thoughts of camping: rustic escapes, natural beauty and… Mickey Mouse ears? When it comes to vacations, Walt Disney World® Resort really does have something for everyone, including those who love the great outdoors. Read on to see all the reasons why Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground is an awesome option for the whole family. And to help make your adventure possible, take advantage of special vacation financing on select Disney vacation packages when you book your getaway with your Disney® Visa® Credit Card.1

Lovely Lodging and Happy Camping

When it comes to accommodations, there are enough options at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground to fit most anyone’s expectations for a camping experience.

Your family can book a campsite for tents, vans or RVs of all sizes—equipped with cold water taps, electrical hook-ups, picnic tables, charcoal grills and WiFi. Each style and size of campsite provides views of nature, where the forest landscape around you is designed to enhance privacy and give you the sense of getting away from it all… while still being just around the corner from all the fun.

If you have a large family (or just want more room), redeem your Disney Rewards Dollars toward upgrading to a deluxe option, like the Premium Meadow Campsite.2 This premium site comes equipped with a giant concrete slab, made to fit large, luxury RVs and any equipment you may have packed that will make your stay extra cozy. It’s even close to the Meadow Trading Post and the campfire area.

And if you’re looking for more amenities and modern-day conveniences, opt for a cabin. The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground provide plenty of space for your group, and they include an essential feature of any summer camp, the bunk bed! A full kitchen with fridge, toaster and microwave oven also makes this a great option for longer stays, and Guests can bring or pre-order their own groceries for delivery to cook up some fun. (Don’t forget: You can earn 2% in Disney Rewards Dollars when you use your Disney® Premier Visa® Card for purchases at grocery stores.)2 The Cabins are also a dog-friendly Resort option, so when we say the whole family can stay, we mean it!

Fresh Air and Fun Everywhere

If your crew wants to bring their summer camp daydreams to life, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground has so many activities you’ll need to rise with the sun to fit them all in.

Enjoy two different pools. The first, Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, is for making a splash. Zoom down the corkscrew slide and cool off. Then, walk over to the fort-themed water play area and watch your little one take a turn on a toddler-friendly slide. The second pool, Wilderness Swimmin’ Pool, is a quiet space made for unwinding.

Ready for a new experience? Train like Merida by scheduling a session at the Fort Wilderness Archery Experience, where you’ll learn how to hit the bullseye. Or tackle a new family tradition with a guided fishing trip on a select Disney waterway.

Or hoof it on over to the Tri-Circle-D Ranch. These real working stables are home to the horses who appear at Magic Kingdom® Park, like Cinderella’s ponies and the magical horses of Main Street, U.S.A.®. You can get in the saddle and take a ride—including pony rides for little ones.

Finally, gather in the fresh evening air for Movies Under the Stars and enjoy family-friendly cinema with a side of stargazing.

Giddy Up and Get Around!

Exploring the campgrounds with all the various modes of transportation is part of the fun at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

Rent an electric golf cart and zip around to discover every little Disney detail. Or wheel around on two-hour guided, all-terrain Segway® tour. During the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure, you’ll stop at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, the stables of Tri-Circle-D Ranch and glassy Bay Lake. An entertaining Cast Member will act as your guide, so be ready for trivia and lots of laughs!

Want to get around while also getting some exercise? Hop on one of several jogging, biking and hiking routes, including a popular 3.1-mile-long pathway that winds through the Resort. Keep an eye out for wildlife on this shaded, scenic, backcountry trail!

Finally, channel your inner Moana and travel by boat. You can make your way to Magic Kingdom® Park from your campsite by taking a complimentary water taxi across Bay Lake.

Chow Down with Fun Dining

Wandering around all that woodland wonder will work up a wild appetite, and breakfast, lunch and dinner are all available at the campgrounds. And remember, you can redeem your Disney Rewards Dollars at any dining location that accepts credit cards.2

Enjoy sweet and savory comfort food from P&J’s Southern Takeout. This Old West eatery serves up cowboy-approved foods like fried chicken paired with classic sides. Chow down on your meal at one of their picnic tables or bring your feast back to your campsite.

There’s also the Meadow Snack Bar, a quick service counter next to the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool. Take a break from the water and dive into a salad, sandwich or light snack.

Or if you’re craving some bar food, grab some grub—like a plate of nachos or chicken wings—and wash it down with a cold beer from Crockett’s Tavern. And don’t forget to stop by the Chuck Wagon, an RV-style food truck that cooks up camp classics, from hot dogs to moonshine cocktails.

Last but not least, when the moment calls for a sit-down family meal, there’s Trail’s End Restaurant. Help yourself to all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast and dinner in this cozy eatery with beamed ceilings, split-log walls and even a potbellied stove. Use your Disney Visa Card to save 10% on your meal at this restaurant most days.34
