Lilo and Stitch

Lilo and Stitch-Themed Graduation Cap

This custom cap puts the scholar center stage while giving a nod to the support they’ve received from their family, a.k.a. their Ohana. With its bright and colorful tropical aesthetic, this cap will make it easy to spot your Disney fan in the crowd.

DIY Cap supplies

Supplies

• Light blue graduation cap
• Painter’s tape
• Scissors
• Various tropical flowers, including hibiscus
• Paint brushes
• Light aqua all-purpose craft paint
• Hot glue
• Craft glue
• Fine point craft blade
• Cardstock

DIY grad cap instructions

Directions

1. Use painter’s tape along the back of the cap to prevent the paint from bleeding. Paint 2-3 coats of light aqua blue as a primer and allow to dry.
2. To make Stitch pop, paint a slight gradient across the bottom corner. Add white at the tip, a mix of aqua and white above, and aqua above that. While the paint is wet, blend with overlapping horizontal brush strokes until the gradient effect is created.
3. Use these templates to print Stitch and “Thank you to my ohana” onto the cardstock. Cut out the images and letters. For best results, use a fine point craft blade.
4. Hot glue the flowers to create a floral crown look. Remember to leave a spot open for Stitch on the bottom corner.
5. Finally, once all the foliage has been glued down, adhere “Thank you to my ohana” with craft glue around the cap button, adhere Stitch to the bottom corner, and add the tassel.

2. Paint 2-3 coats of the navy paint as a primer. Apply a single generous coat of the glitter paint and allow to dry.
3. While the paint is drying, use these templates to print the Genie and “Applause” onto the cardstock. Cut out the images.
4. Secure the LED light pack on the back of the cap with hot glue or hide the battery pack in the base of the cap and attach it with glue. Once the paint is completely dry, set your templates and trace on the inside with a white pencil. Line the LED lights inside of the outline and secure with hot glue.
