Evil Queen Makeup from Snow White

Can anyone dare to challenge your place on the throne when you’re channeling all the power of the Evil Queen? You may find yourself enchanted by your own reflection in the mirror, mirror on the wall when you’re glammed out in vibrant violet eyeshadow and lips as red as the infamous poisoned apple. Sometimes being bad looks good.

Products Needed

  • Concealer
  • Foundation
  • Black face paint or eyeliner
  • Black and purple eyeshadow (light and dark)
  • Red Lipstick
  • Mascara
  • Glue stick
  • False eyelashes (optional)

Length of Time

30-45 minutes

Instructions

    1. Starting with the brows, let’s make them bold and defined. Using a spooley (the mascara wand-style brush you see at the end of many eyebrow products), brush up your brows and set them with brow glue or gel.
    1. Apply black eyeshadow to fill in your brows for a dramatic look. (You can also use black eyeliner or face paint.) If you make a mistake, don’t worry, you can use a cotton ball with micellar water (a gentle face cleanser) to correct it.
    1. Apply concealer on your entire eyelid and under your brows to really define their shape. This cleans up any messy lines and preps the lids for eyeshadow.
    1. With a fluffy blending eyeshadow brush, apply a lighter shade of purple eyeshadow just above the crease of the eye, blending it down into the crease. You can be as messy as you like, as we will clean the edges later.
    1. With the same brush, apply a darker shade of purple in the crease, blending up into the lighter shade and outward toward the edge of the brow bone.
    1. To make the eyes pop, apply concealer to the eyelid using a small concealer brush to “cut the crease.” (This is a makeup technique to apply a new layer of concealer on the eyelid and apply eyeshadow directly onto it, to make the eyeshadow more pigmented. This also gives the eyeshadow a more defined shape.) While the concealer is wet, apply a shimmery purple eyeshadow with a flat eyeshadow brush.
    1. Using the fluffy blending brush with a small amount of the darker eyeshadow, blend the edges of the concealer on your eyelid in the crease for a seamless finish.
    1. Using a smaller eyeshadow brush, apply the lighter shade of purple to the inner area under eye, then the darker shade of purple to the outer area under the eye.
    1. If you want to go the extra mile to emphasize the eyes, apply eyeliner to the upper and lower waterline. Then, using a very small eyeshadow brush, apply black eyeshadow on top of this and blend into the lashes. Eyeshadow is done!
    1. Clean up the edges and any fall out with a makeup wipe. In particular, you want to erase any eyeshadow that is outside the area between the end of your eyebrow to the end of your eyelid.
    1. Apply primer and foundation to the rest of your face, being careful not to erase the eyebrows or eyeshadow.
    1. With contour or bronzer, apply generously on and under your cheek bones angling downward to get the iconic Evil Queen shape.
    1. Lightly apply a deep blush just above the bronzer and highlighter on the tip of your cheek bones, brow bones and inner corner of the eyes.
    1. Apply red lipstick or lip gloss.
    1. Curl your lashes, apply mascara and put on false eyelashes if you have them, ensuring they are cut shorter if needed.
    1. For the final step, using black face paint or eyeliner, paint the Evil Queen’s iconic widow’s peak on your forehead.

Winifred Sanderson Makeup from Hocus Pocus

The eldest of Salem’s most diabolical trio of sisters, Winifred delights us with her hilariously wicked ways. Recreate Winifred’s fiery passion through her signature puckered lip look and unforgettable, dramatic facial expressions.

Products Needed

  • Concealer
  • Orange eyeshadow mixed with concealer or orange concealer
  • Setting powder
  • Glue stick
  • Brown eyeshadow
  • Lipstick
  • Foundation
  • Mascara (optional)

Length of Time

30-45 minutes

Instructions

    1. Let’s start by blocking the brows. Using a craft glue stick, apply a layer of glue over your brows. Use an eyebrow brush or spooley (the mascara wand-style brush you see at the end of many eyebrow products) to brush through the glue, and once it has dried, repeat once or twice more. Ensure the glue is dry each time before reapplying (you can use a hair blow dryer on cold to speed up the process). Tidy up the edges with micellar water (a gentle face cleanser) and a cotton ball.

  1. Winifred makeup
    1. Mix orange eyeshadow into concealer and apply a thin layer over your brows.

  2. Winifred makeup
    1. Apply a setting powder on top with a small brush in a dabbing motion.

    1. Gently apply your usual foundation (or one shade lighter, if you have it) over your brows and then to the rest of your face, blending the edges of the eyebrows.

    1. Apply concealer under the eye and on the outer corners of the lips. Blend.

    1. Using a fluffy small brush, or a blending eyeshadow brush, apply brown eyeshadow to the crease and lid of the eye. Then, (this part is optional) apply mascara.

    1. Using a small flat brush, take the same brown eyeshadow and apply it below your lower lash line, focusing on the outer corners.

  3.

    Winifred makeup
    1. Apply lipstick to the two peaks of your lips, overemphasizing them. Then, apply to the bottom of your lips to match the width of the top part.

    1. Optional: Using a smaller brush and the same or a lighter shade of brown eyeshadow, outline your smile lines and eye bags lightly to age yourself.

  4. Winifred makeup
    1. For the final touch, apply a small amount of the lipstick on the apples of your cheeks, blending in with your finger or a brush in a circular motion.

Be prepared to turn heads, and don’t be surprised if your makeup inspires you to get into a little Halloween mischief.

Products Needed

  • False Eyelash Glue
  • Rhinestones
  • Foundation
  • Black, gray and white eyeshadow
  • Red Lipstick
  • Mascara
  • False eyelashes (optional)

Length of Time

30-45 minutes

Instructions

    1. Starting off with the brows, using a spooley (the mascara wand-style brush you see at the end of many eyebrow products), brush up your brows into a high arch and set them with brow glue or gel. Then, apply black eyeshadow to fill in your brows.

  1. Cruella makeup
    1. Starting with the lightest eyeshadow shade (white), apply this to your brow bone and on top of the crease using a fluffy blending brush.

    1. Then, apply gray eyeshadow in the crease, creating a cat eye shape. Go back in with the white to blend out the edges.

    1. Starting in small circular motions with the blending brush, apply black eyeshadow in the outer corner of the eye, slowly blending this out into the cat eye shape. Start small, as it’s easier to go larger than go smaller.

    1. With a small flat brush, apply the lighter shade under the eye in the inner corner and then blend by using the darker shade on the outer corner, bringing the cat eye shape to life.

  2. Cruella makeup
    1. Now, to clean up those edges, go in with a cotton swab and micellar water (a gentle face cleanser) and make sure that the cat eye shape is nice and even.

    1. Next, apply a full face of primer and foundation, being careful to avoid the eye makeup. Then, add a cool shade of contour under the cheek bones for a defined but subtle look.

    1. Using a smaller fluffy blending brush, apply the gray eyeshadow to the inner corners of your eye sockets and blend into the edge of the brow.

    1. Curl your lashes and apply false eyelashes. Pro tip: Cut your false eyelashes to the width of your eye, so they aren’t too long. Then, apply mascara to blend your lashes with the false ones.

    1. To emphasize the eyes, apply black eyeliner to the upper waterline.

    1. Lastly, apply red lipstick or lip gloss for that iconic Cruella red lip.

  3. Cruella makeup
    1. If you’re looking for extra sparkle, using eyelash glue, apply the glue to your face where you want to add rhinestones. Wait five to ten seconds, then carefully apply each rhinestone.
